About the artist's vision: Art that Speaks to the soul
Artis’s Statement:
I see art as a means to correct our imperfect world and, in doing so, participate in the act of creation. With my art, I want to bring order and light to a world of chaos.
I find drawing as a form of research into reality. I use symbols as a reference to the external reality that reflects the internal life.
Bio:
I was born in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba in 1969, and studied Plastic Arts Education at the Higher Institute of Education “Enrique Jose Varona” in Havana. In 1991, I moved to Miami, Florida, and continued my education at Miami-Dade College, Florida International University, and the University of Miami, expanding my knowledge in the arts and exploring interdisciplinary topics.
Mainly a painter, I have experimented with poetry, mixed media video, sound, mail art, book arts, and fiber arts. I have participated in many national and international arts exhibitions and collaborations. My art reflects my personal relationship with the material and my intention to transmute it into an expressive matter. The work of the artists is similar to an alchemist.
